On Saturday May 18, 2013 we will be holding the 2nd Annual Tammy L. Carroll Memorial  Walk for HD!   This is the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s signature walk, which brings together thousands of caring individuals to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow to those affected by HD. Locally, more than 100 members of our community will team up in a day of camaraderie, compassion and fun.  The walk is being organized by Trae Carroll, 17, a soon-to-be senior at Edgewood High School in honor of his late mother, Tammy, who lost her battle with HD in 2010.   

Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the largest non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by Huntington’s disease (HD). The Society works to provide the family services, education, advocacy and research to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow. 

HD is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder for which there is no effective treatment or cure. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual’s ability to walk, think, talk and reason. More than 30,000 people in the United States are currently diagnosed with HD. It is believed that there are over 200,000 more people in the U.S. at risk.  Currently, Indiana has the second highest incidence of the disease of the states in the U.S.  Additionally, Indiana has one of the few HD Centers of Excellence in the country, at IU Med Center in Indianapolis.  (for more information, please visit www.iuhdclinic.org) 

The 2012 Team Hope Walk for HD is designed to not only raise money, but also raise awareness in Indiana to fight this devastating disease. All proceeds support HDSA's fight to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families.   Specifically, 100% of the profits from this event will go toward research to find a cure! 

We hope you will consider our request to make a donation to our event. Huntington’s disease is among the most horrible diseases known and the people who struggle with it are among the most courageous.  We have included an auction donation form for your convenience.  With your contribution to the Tammy L. There are a number of in-kind opportunities available for prospective sponsors, including but not limited to:
